The CAMS Centre for Advanced Legal Studies (CAMS School of Law) has been established by the College of Accounting and Management Sciences of Karachi (CAMS) as a world class research and teaching institution. The University of London’s LLB degree is a highly prestigious and internationally recognised qualification in law, awarded to successful candidates by the University of London.

After registering with the University of London’s external LLB programme, the only criterion for progress in, and eventual completion of, the LLB degree of the University is success in its examinations. These examinations are held in Karachi through the British Council.

UNIVERSITY OF LONDON EXTERNAL  PROGRAMME LLB

The University of London received the Royal Assent of King William IV to award degrees in 1836. From the time that the University of London became the first university to offer a degree in English Law (the LLB) in the 1890s, its LLB examinations have been available to external students throughout the world. The LLB degree of the University of London is a prestigious qualification in law of international standing, and has provided the first step on a career route for many thousands of practising lawyers around the world. Academic management of the University of London External LLB Programme is provided by a consortium of University of London Law Schools, including:

• London School of Economics and Political Science
• University College London
• King’s College London
• Queen Mary
• School of Oriental and African Studies

The LLB degree received through the external programme of the University of London is identical in standard and recognition to a LLB degree received by someone who has studied at one of the University’s Colleges. 

The University of London’s LLB degree is recognised as a Qualifying Law Degree by several regulatory bodies of the legal profession such as the General Council of the Bar of England & Wales (for barristers), the Law Society of England & Wales (for solicitors).

Mr Akhund has been practising law for over 15 years at the highest international levels. Called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1991, he practises corporate, commercial, banking, financial, securities and foreign investment law in Pakistan. He is a founding director of the College of Accounting and Management Sciences, and was the architect and main draftsman of the law and regulations governing the Central Depository System of the Central Depository Company of Pakistan Limited. 

Between 1999 and 2007 Mr Akhund practised law in Sydney, Australia, specialising in project finance, ship finance and international trade finance law and financial restructuring and recovery. During his practise in Australia, he has been the lead lawyer in numerous high-value transactions, and has worked on projects in over 40 jurisdictions covering all 5 continents. He is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. 

Mr Akhund heads CAMS School of Law as its Executive Director and Dean.
